Hiya! Welcome to A Story-Making Masterclass, Chained Edition.
Before we begin, I must say: this masterclass isn’t a run-of-the-mill course for fiction writers. It is concept-teaching for Christians who want to pen a story for God’s glory.
You can find all the nitty-gritty details and rules of writing fiction in other works (Writing Fiction in High School by Sharon Watson or A One Year Adventure Novel by Daniel Schwabauer, for example). And, while I believe that all of those tools are useful in developing our craft, my hope was to bring something different.
A Story-Making Masterclass, Chained Edition, focuses on the characters and message of the book.
We’re talking about Creating a Fictional Land, Fiction-Fantasy and Prophecies, Showing or Telling the Gospel starting in Genesis, Developing a Hero’s Past, Giving the Hero Real, Vulnerable Allies, The Art of Writing Redemption Stories, and Connecting You to the Story.
We’re drawing illustrations from the Bible, keeping a focus on God, the Master Author. We’re also drawing illustrations from the first book in The Pure Line Series, Chained. If you don’t have a copy of Chained, you can get one here!
Our goal in understanding and utilizing these tools is to write Christ-honoring fiction that touches the hearts of our readers beyond the last page.
I am using Chained as the guideline for this masterclass, but I’m not hoping to instruct you so that you’ll write another book like Chained. No, your story is going to be unique in voice, plot, and much more. That’s the joy of it!
I am excited to meet you in this different masterclass and read the unique stories you create using the same tools I did!
