As a Christian who writes, you will be bored at some point or another. You have written and rewritten this story in your head countless times. You know every struggle, every triumph, every twist, every teeny tiny detail down to whether your hero’s shoelaces are tied or not in a particular scene. (I’m chuckling. Are you? Tell me you at least smiled.)
Your familiarity with the content of your book causes boredom.
Believe me, you are not alone. Everyone I’ve ever talked to who writes has this problem – myself included! (Yes, I talk to myself.)
So, let me encourage you: Your plot is superb! It doesn’t need a rewrite. Your readers will love it one day because they had no clue that twist was coming! You simply need to walk away from the desk and get your mind off your book. Maybe for a day. Maybe for two weeks.
When I get bored, I will hang out with my brother, and we’ll throw a football back and forth. Or, I’ll play a board game with my younger sisters (no pun intended). Or, I’ll head out into a field, surround myself with sheep, and starting singing to my King.
So, what are you going to do? Where are you going to go? Who are you going to hang out with?
After a short break, sit back down and start writing again. Perhaps you’ll find, as I did, that your story plot is more interesting after ice cream and laughter.
